Cheers to the LBD!
•Posted on August 08 2019

“Here’s Cheers” to the ruler of Parisian haute couture for revolutionising the LBD - Little Black Dress.
Whereas once, black was only worn by servants or those in mourning, it is now a quintessential wardrobe staple - something you can wear over and over and still look flawless with disregard for the current season’s trend.
It’s a well-known fashion fact that black is a figure flattering colour, giving the illusion of appearing slimmer due to its dark hue. Although, the shape and style of the garment also plays a part in that.
I’m often asked to name my ‘go to’ LBD, so I have compiled a list of some of my favourites including which body types they are best suited for. You’re welcome!!
PEAR SHAPED
Arrabelle This is the dress to hide those hips and accentuate the waistline. While suiting most body types, the way the hemline of this dress falls and flows especially flatters those with bigger hips.
Why I love Arabelle The bust is fully lined for extra comfort. The straps are adjustable so you don't have to worry about your straps falling off your shoulders. The waist has a draw string allowing you to make the adjustment to make it fit 'just right'. I love this dress, its so pretty and and can be dressed up or down.
NO SHAPE
Anais The centre back tie on this dress, means you can cinch it in at the waist, even just slightly, creating the illusion of a waistline. It’s a dress with just a subtle element of femininity and a whole lot of elegance.
Why we love Anais This dress is fully lined in silk allowing you to feel confident as you wear it. Plus I just love the fact his dress has pockets.
TALL AND SLIM
Amia Long Dress While really anyone can wear the Amia and look amazing, it really flatters those with a little bit of height. Its perfect midi length can add sophistication to even a casual look.
Why we love Amia This dress is fully lined in silk, and feels so luxe against your skin. The straps are just wide enough to conceal your bra straps and it has pockets.
FULL CHEST
Amaya This dress gives you the confidence of full coverage, but with style. The Amaya is the most comfortable and versatile dress: dress it down with sandals or up with pumps. It features a sweeping hemline, which is longer in the back and just makes this dress work!
Why we love Amaya The details of this dress are subtle but give it that little something special. The tuck on the shoulder, pleated sleeve hem and keyhole at back. It also has pockets which makes this dress so wearable.
ALL BODY TYPES
Audrey Named after her namesake Audrey Hepburn, this is a glamourous dress that can be worn from day to night. This classic, flattering shape suits all body types.
Why we love Audrey This is a beautiful silk dress with a lovely twist feature at back. It has a body skimming shape that really makes everyone look great!
BABY BUMP
Alys This dress will take you right through your pregnancy as your little bump becomes a big one. The dress has plenty of movement allowing you to wear it with comfort. Its made from 100% silk meaning it wont make you feel hot in the summer.
Why we love Alys This dress is so easy to wear. Its simple design means you can make it work for any occasion. It has plenty of movement which is perfect for those hot summer days. The best part, it has pockets!!
All of these pieces are made from Basal’s trademark high quality, 100% natural silk and will elevate your wardrobe and transcend seasons and occasions.
These LBD’s not only look luxurious but feel like a second skin - after all, “luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury”. Well said Coco Channel. Now I’ll cheers to that!
